pizzas /// italian  /// delicious /// gourmand /// 4 Rue de Fleurieu /// Lyon 2 /// 10 to 15 € ///////

We, French people, are quite in love with pizzas. What’s not to love about it, am I right? But did you notice that it is harder and harder to find tasty and original pizzas? We know by heart the likes of Papa Pizza John’s or Dominos Pizzas, and frankly their dishes are left to be desired. It is not disgusting by any mean, but their pizzas are missing the true spirit of Italian cuisine: heart.

Fortunately, in a detour by rue Victor Hugo, pizzas got a second shot at pleasing our buds. Gabriella, Le Clan des Mamas is – you guessed it – an Italian restaurant, proposing fresh, sparkling, cuisine, all in line with the concept of the Italian mother. It is quite obvious, but Gabriella’s menu includes burratina salad, interestingly flavoured pizzas, and some home-made cocktails (their mojitos are worth the ride).

Trust us nevertheless, if you come to Gabriella, it’s for their pizzas. The dough is consistent but light, as it is prepared 48 hours before the service. The toppings selection is wide, but includes classics like Regina, margherita etc. Of course, there are some original ones which incorporates salmon, and other traditional Italian food – mozzarella, spianata, speck, ricotta… With you’re not a pizza lover, don’t panic, Gabriella thought about it. There’s a restricted selection of antipastis, with burratas for example.
